On January 13, 2025, Massachusetts author Susan Sabbatelli visited the Sudbury Cooperative Preschool to read The Apple Bear Cookie Book. With decades of early childhood experience, Susan talked about imagination and how you can be an author at ANY age!
An Engaging Author Reading for Ages 2 to 5
The Sudbury Cooperative Preschool provided the perfect stage for this interactive book reading. With a group of 2 to 3-year-olds and 4 to 5-year-olds, Susan differentiated her presentations for unique learning levels. She first talked about famous authors and their ideas for their books. Then about getting ideas from our imagination. Lastly, how the students could write about anything: their weekend, sports they like, or even what they ate for breakfast! For the younger group, she held up beanie babies as characters showed in the book, like “E is for Elephant”. She also introduced the book’s catchy song, The Apple Bear Cookie Song. The children eagerly joined in, picked their favorite characters, and learned through music and fun.
Supporting Education and Local Authors
In a wonderful show of support, the Sudbury Cooperative Preschool got copies of The Apple Bear Cookie Book for students. The generosity shows how dedicated the Sudbury Cooperative School, led by director Carrie Angelo, is to its education and literacy. Buster Bear, the main character of Apple Berry County made an appearance adding excitement to this memorable day. The Apple Bear Cookie Book has characters throughout it, like Xavier the X-Ray Man and Jenny the Jogger.
